John Assaraf Shares His Meant for More Insights

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

Lisa Sasevich:
Hey there, it’s Lisa and I am at the beautiful Torrey Pines State Reserve. Thank you. With the best photographer and videographer on the planet, my friend John Assaraf. Many of you may already know him from all of his bestselling books and the movie, The Secret and all his great work on brain research. It’s interesting, we’re talking about what’s next for us and all the things we’re up to.

John Assaraf:
Yeah.

Lisa Sasevich:
It’s been almost a two-hour hike. There’s lots to share with our families, kids, life, work. I’ve been sharing a lot in these “meant for more moments” about discovering your thing. John and I each have reinvented ourselves a million times.

John Assaraf:
Especially.

Lisa Sasevich:
Okay, hold on. We got some friends coming down.

John Assaraf:
We’re on the trail right now.

Lisa Sasevich:
Yeah, go ahead.

John Assaraf:
And the fans go wild.

Lisa Sasevich:
Okay, it’s family day, it’s Sunday. Where was I? Anyway, we have each reinvented ourselves a lot of times and I know many of you, as you’re in your … possibly moving into that great second half. Either a career or in your life. Are you looking at kind of what is it? Feel free. What is it? What is your “meant for more”? John was just sharing some things going on in his life that are leading him to something bubbling up inside him. I was hoping you’d share it.

John Assaraf:
We were just talking about when I turned 50 or 48, 10 years ago. I started making health my focus. For the last year, year and a half, my mom and dad had been in and out of the hospital, nine friends have died. We’ve had a lot of health things in my orbit. I’ve made my focus around mental health, emotional health, physical health, spiritual health. That’s going to lead me to a book that’s totally out of the ordinary for me, called The Second Half. How to make your second half of your life the best half of your life. It’s in the ideation stage right now. We were just talking about, what’s our focus. Sometimes what’s happening in our life determines what we have to focus on.

Lisa Sasevich:
Yeah. God gives you like the perfect path. You’ve gone through some of the hardest things in your life in these last two years.

John Assaraf:
Challenging this year, yeah.

Lisa Sasevich:
On the other side, John knows because he’s traveled this “meant for more path” many times. There’s a contribution that you can make to the world with what you learned by staying the course. Thank you for being with us on our hike. Thank you for sharing what’s going on.

John Assaraf:
You’re welcome.

Lisa Sasevich:
Have an awesome day and start to look at what’s happening in your life. While it might be tough now, how do all the puzzle pieces fit together for your “meant for more”? We might not be able to see yet, but you can probably feel it.

John Assaraf:
It’s funny because we’re here in this beautiful Torrey Pines State Reserve. If you just take a look at nature, right? Which part of the perfection of the ebb and flow of the waves is not perfect? The answer is, it’s all perfect. Sometimes there’s a lot of things that aren’t to our taste, but they’re still perfect. You have to look for perfection even in the middle of the metamorphosis.

Lisa Sasevich:
I’ll probably watch this video about 5,000 more times because I’m raising my teens.

John Assaraf:
That’s right.

Lisa Sasevich:
All right, thanks everybody. Have an awesome day.

John Assaraf:
Bye.
