Lisa, So are you saying its a good thing there is tension? You want them to feel that tension?
If so, why?
ooh not one but two juicy ideas. I like that idea of holding the tension because when potential clients feel that tension they will be motivated to make a change. I am guilty of feeling a need to help relieve it.. great learning!
Also, re finishing early, we’ve had the same learning for our online webinars – and if we go over the promised time, we do lose people.
Thanks for these tips!
Jo
Lisa I can see what you are saying about holding the tension in that it keeps them and you on the edge…being sharp and aware of catching that next step as you are standing on that ledge.
Thanks Lisa for both of these important points.
We need to feel the tension, not suppress
for the breakthroughs to happen…and we have been
suppressing way to long= dis-ease.
Timeliness is key…all about respect, and an important
value for speakers to master. You are awesome, and your
integrity i respect!
The tension is really caused by the GAP Lisa referred to- which is the distance between where you are and where you want to be. If we follow along with the speaker and lean into what we want (which is where they are guiding us), the tension can act like a catapult to zing us into positive action. It’s an amazing natural dynamic and one of my favorite creativity tools! When well structured, you can offer great benefit to your listeners. Thanks, Lisa, for this powerful tip!
Lisa’s comments about going over or under rings true. Nothing irritates me more as a listener to have someone go over, it is the speaker I want to hear that has time cut out to keep to the schedule.
