I’ve been looking back at my own path, where I started as a coach making up to $100K a year with one-on-one service, then leapt to $2.2 million in just 10 months by creating group training programs, and then doubled that by getting out there with my Signature Talk and Irresistible Offer. I’ve also been looking at the paths of people I’ve been mentoring in our Sales, Authenticity & Success Mastermind program, and I’ve identified the three ideal phases in the development of a successful business.
You can think of these phases as three years or three levels, because everyone moves at different speeds. Some people break through and reach seven figures quickly, like I did, and others marinate in the process a bit longer.
So, yes, it really is possible to break a million in three years – and it’s likely if you do, you’ll see that you went through these three phases to do it:
Year 1: Build it. The first level is about building it, putting the most important tools that you need into your business, so that you’re ready for anything. You need a lead capture system. You need leveraged ways to sell and deliver your services. And if you’re like my clients and me, you need to have your Signature Talk and Irresistible Offers ready to go. That way, when someone offers you a platform, you can say yes, because you’re confident and ready.
In our model, year one is not about pausing. You can still make money while you’re building your systems. In fact, bringing in an income makes your plan even more effective, because you’re proving all along the way that what you’re doing is profitable and truly in demand.
Year 2: Get out there. Much of the energy that you put into building your core business elements is now freed up, so level two is about getting out there and becoming known for your expertise. Speak on other people’s stages, teleseminars, and webinars, collaborate with joint venture partners, attract clients with social media, attend live events where you’ll find great networking.
You can still make money while you’re building your systems.

Year 3: Cash in on your mojo. By your third year in business, if you follow this path, your products, programs and systems are more solidly in place. You’ve been getting out there, so you’ve developed a reputation in your field. You’ve got happy clients and testimonials, so level three is the time to really cash in on the mojo that you’ve been creating. Host your own live event, start a certification program, or automate the successful systems that you’ve put into place.
Just remember that in order to break seven figures, you need to have a solid foundation beneath you. You’ll want to create those level-one elements right away and with guidance from someone who’s done it and can see the big picture, even if it’s only a foggy vision for you at first.
