I’m a big believer in the power of tithing as taught by Edwene Gaines in The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity.
In her model, you give 10% of your income to the people, places or institutions who have fed you spiritually. They’ve inspired you and helped you to remember who you are.
By giving in this way, you’re giving back to the Universe. You’re tithing to prosperity, to abundance, and in the process increasing your own.
For instance, it frequently happens that I’ll send out, say, $3,000, and then open my mailbox and find a check for $3,500.
If you’re inspired to try tithing for yourself, keep these three tips in mind.
1. Keep your focus on giving. Don’t give with the expectation of getting. If you’re giving just to get, that’s not a true acknowledgment of what you’ve received, and the abundance may not flow back to you.
2. The Universe often gives from a different direction. Many times you tithe to institution A and receive from person B.
3. Give without attachment to how the money is used. Just give and say thank you. How your recipients use the money is up to them.
