Simplicity Trumps a Lot

I’ve seen so many people waste hours, days, weeks on minutia that just doesn’t matter that much. They’ll also waste it on drama or on saving a relatively small amount of money.

Seriously, I’d rather pay a little more, for instance on taxes, than spend hours of my life to save pennies.

We entrepreneurs get bored easily, so we also want to add all of these complicated models and a new system for this and a new system for that, when it’s not necessary and may even distract us from our mission.

My business has been able to grow so quickly, in part, because simplicity is like a mantra for me: we keep it simple, we keep it simple, we keep it simple.

So, I want to invite you to look around your business and see where you may be overcomplicating things. What can you simplify?

Also, ask yourself what’s good enough that you can move forward with right now rather than spending weeks or months tweaking details.

The truth is, those little details will get tweaked naturally along the way in any case. And then the tweaks will be even more powerful and relevant, because they won’t come from your overthinking them in a vaccum, but from being out there on the court doing your own work.
