Lisa, I continue to struggle with monetizing my passion “abused women and incest survivors” and integrating my skills in a way that helps these women, affords an income and not being distracted by other “ventures” that may produce income.
It sounds like you might be fostering a belief that you can’t make a good living working in the field you are passionate about. As long as this is the case, you’ll likely continue to be distracted by other ventures. On my campus I invite my students to pick a horse and ride it, so that they get focused and can put all of their learning in one direction. This creates a lot of momentum and nets amazing results. I’ve found this type of dedicated attention, in one direction, produces great results across any number of fields.
