Leave Your Comfort Zone

Risks come in all shapes and sizes. Some involve large investments in yourself, but others are about taking the risk that someone might say no.

For instance, an early product I did with Ali Brown several years ago never would have happened if I’d been afraid to leave my comfort zone, which, in this case, was, literally, my bed.

I was planning to do a teleseminar about speaking authentically from the stage, and I read in Ali’s ezine about the big boy, old-school strategies that just don’t fit anymore.

That really resonated with me, and the next morning, I sat bolt upright at 5 a.m. with an inspired idea.

I had Ali’s email address because she had been my student in the Understanding Men course I taught, so I sent her an email, telling her, “You know, I’m about to do this teleseminar, and I saw your ezine, and I don’t know why, but I think we’re supposed to do it together.”

Forty-five minutes later, I had a response: “Wow, Lisa. I was looking for something to do in October, and this is perfect.”

Two months later, Simply Irresistible was born, a program that put me on the map in a big, new way. A program that never would have been born if I’d decided to stay in my comfort zone and gone back to sleep.
