Have you ever sat in a training that wasn’t quite your cup of tea? Maybe a friend or a spouse brought you to the event.
Or, maybe you even paid for a program or event, but it wasn’t what you thought it would be or it just wasn’t ringing your bell.
So you’re listening with your arms crossed, feeling bored or disgruntled, all the while missing a great opportunity.
That’s right. It’s an opportunity. Because even though the speaker may have come from a different model than you’re used to, or the content isn’t a perfect fit, you can still get something out of it if you change your perspective.
Instead of asking yourself “Does this fit?” or, worse, telling yourself, “This doesn’t fit.” It’s far better to by ask yourself how. “How does this fit?”
When you ask yourself how, you open up possibility (as well as your mind) rather than shutting it down.
Your open mind will see illuminations and connections that you definitely wouldn’t have seen otherwise.
Assume that the speaker or training has something to offer you, and you will surely get something that you can apply.
