One of my favorite metaphors for moving ahead in my business and personal life is the trapeze.
We’re all been there, I’m sure.
We’re swinging on our trapeze, somewhat content in our life or business, and then we get an inspired thought of something better for us. Another trapeze swings nearby, not quite in arm’s reach.
Now, in order to get from your current trapeze to the new one, you have to let go.Or maybe you can’t even see it yet. You just have the knowing that it’s out there for you.
And not only that, but you have to fly through the air untethered for a while, with no safety net.
If you’ve ever been between trapezes, you know it’s scary. You’ve let go of the familiar and the future is uncertain.
But that time between trapezes is crucial. Because you can’t move on to something new until you’ve let go of the old.
And the other thing that’s important, is the minute that other bar materializes or comes within reach, you have to grab it.
You’ve got to grab those inspired opportunities when they come.
