In a recent blog post, I told you that if you want to get speaking gigs you have to be able to articulate the unique transformation that you provide.
That lets your host know that you’ve thought through your message and are ready to deliver it to an audience.
There are also a few other things you need to do to show your host that you’re a professional and are ready to get booked.
You want to have these three things prepared in advance, so that when a host requests them, you can send them out right away:
1. Speaker Outline. When somebody asks for the topics I will speak on, I send them my speaker outline, which states the transformation that I’m going to offer to their audience along with three to five bullets of exactly what I’ll cover.
2. Speaker Introduction. This is a paragraph about me for the host to read when he or she introduces me from the stage. They’ll also probably post it on their website or blog.
3. Photos. You have to be ready with professional photos—not photos shot on your cell phone or by your spouse. Invest in a session with a professional photographer. It’s so worth it.
Get those three things going now, and I’ll see you on the speaker lineup soon.
