I use the term “agent of change” often, but do you know how powerful it really is to be one?
Agents of change come from two places at once:
Agent. First, they’re agents. They’re like secret agents. They’re on a mission. They have to do what they were put on the planet to do. And they know it. So they’ve actually put some effort into that mission to let it grow and expand.
Change. Second, they’ve experienced first-hand the power of change, so they are willing to offer that option to people who may not have been planning on changing that day. Those people had just been tooling along in their life, on the surface content with the way they organize themselves or communicate with their partner or their position in their company, and then suddenly an agent of change comes along and opens up the promise for something better, something bigger, a new possibility.
If I have just described you to a tee, you are an agent of change, and you and I are in the same tribe.
I love empowering agents of change with ways to get their work out into the world, open up that sense of possibility for people, and then give those people what they need to say yes to their offers of help.
